Elastisys Compliant Kubernetes becomes Welkin!
Today we announce that our Kubernetes platform, Compliant Kubernetes, is officially changing its name to Welkin! With its continued focus on security, compliance, and scalability, Welkin will remain the Kubernetes platform for software critical to our society, enabling organizations across Europe to accelerate innovation through open source cloud native technology while ensuring security and regulatory compliance.
Why Welkin?
As our platform continues to evolve, we wanted a name that reflects not just what we do, but why we do it. Following the principle that “people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it,” we chose the name “Welkin” to capture our broader purpose. Historically, “welkin” has described the vast sky, originating from an Old English word for “cloud,” and closely tied to the German “Wolke,” meaning “cloud.” The new name reflects limitless possibilities, much like the sky itself.
Whether you’re scaling your infrastructure, ensuring best-in-class security, maintaining compliance, or driving cloud native innovation, Welkin is designed to help you reach new heights. Our Kubernetes platform is built to empower organizations to push boundaries and achieve more, all while staying secure and compliant in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
Introducing our Mascot
As part of this rebrand, we’re excited to unveil our new mascot: Welkin – your cloud native hero. The arctic fox was selected as our mascot because it embodies qualities we value: adaptability, resilience, and strength, even in the harshest conditions. Just like this hero of the frozen north, Welkin is a resourceful and trustworthy guide in the cloud native world, built to support the critical software that our society relies on every day. The arctic fox also pays homage to our company roots in northern Sweden, where our company journey began as a spin-off from Umeå university in 2011.
What’s Changing?
Only the name and logo. Everything you love about Compliant Kubernetes – the security, compliance, and reliability – remains exactly the same. Elastisys continues to offer the same trusted platform, team, and support, but now with a new name.
